Immigration 101

In this Introduction to Immigration session, we will define some forms of immigration relief, and we will describe --in very general terms-- who is typically eligible for each form of relief and the benefits that each form of relief confers to successful applicants.

The forms of relief that we will cover will include naturalization, adjustment of status, work authorization, asylum, humanitarian parole, T/VAWA/U visas, DACA, and Temporary Protected Status. We will also define what it means to be a Sanctuary State and give a brief overview of our rights in the context of immigration enforcement (i.e. Know Your Rights).

Finally, we will discuss the statewide Equity Corps of Oregon program (https://equitycorps.org/); we will talk about the program's goal of helping people access immigration attorneys, who is eligible, and the general process of applying for immigration help through ECO.
