It is important to the Community Services Network to have an action item that we are working on outside of the monthly meetings. Early on, we decided bringing collective social-service focused resources to our friends in need was the approach we wanted to take.
Our first Social Service Fair, hosted in the DePaul Industries parking lot, drew a crowd of over 150 attendees, with social service offerings from over 18 nonprofits and additional services like haircuts, chiropractic, vision services and donations from Columbia Sportswear. We have continued with this approach and our attendance has grown.
In February 2019, we hosted our second fair which drew a crowd of over 300 attendees, 24 nonprofits and additional services like haircuts, chiropractic, vision, acupuncture and large donations of winter appropriate gear from Columbia Sportswear. We plan to host three more fairs in 2019 and hope to grow these numbers with each fair.
